I've almost completed this but I can;t get the 4 in the NW corner, help appreciated.....

1d. A wicket in one African state or another (6) - ?A????

11a. Anglo-Saxon author with the shakes? (5) - ????N

13a. Unconscious by river, reflective storm god produces thought (7) - ????T?S

2d. Say Croydon's fine to go round boozer and start to drink (8) - ?H?????D

PS. Many of the answers have been to do with Greek mythology.

I think 11a. might be AS PEN which would make 2d. ?H?P???D

OK, I've got 2d. SHE PH ER D (Sheer + PH (Public House) + D(rink)) but dont see the definition.

Sheer is fine, but can't see Croydon.

Shepherd parses so well it must be right but can't see the ref. to Croydon, and that makes 13a. I?E?T?S which is probably IDEATES but I haven't got a clue how it's parsed.

Set was an Egyptian God of storms etc if that helps

Hi Scorpoijo, that does help, it accounts for the last 3 letters, which leaves IDEA for 'Unconscious by river'.
