I have finished this crossword and know what to highlight. Presumably, each of the cells of the highlighted three letter word contain the appropriate letter. Can someone confirm this?

That's the way I see it.

Thanks w. I wish the endings of these crosswords didn't leave me with uncertainty. I thought of making three big letters through the cells. Roll on Friday!

I have the grid almost finished. I know what the theme is, the misprints from the across clues, and I have identified the (6,6) character in the grid. However, I don't know how to resolve the clashes. Do the down answers dominate over the across clashes, or should they be changed to make the across answers real words?

Got the theme, almost all the clashes, know how to highlight the clusters but I can't spot the (6,6) character. Is it a person's name? Any hint as to where it may lurk?

Yes. It is a person's name, well associated with the theme.

Got it now thanks. Spent a long time thinking it must be a certain English author who wrote an essay about the theme and is also (6,6)...
