Good afternoon all,

A nice selection of clues again this week and I've spent a good while dismantling your wordplays and here is my synopsis.
Firstly, welcome back Pastille & Jamoza and new comers.
I see we had plenty of references to Lillian Gish and a couple for Diana Rigg which was clever, ixion's Michael Gove was a little more obscure and very clever, plenty of extraction anagrams which always has me scribbling the letters down and then crossing off which are to be extracted (not always getting it right first time) and a new word for me from jws at post 23. However, I toyed with quite a few final contenders and ended up with two joint favourites with the rest of the field certainly not just being 'also-rans' (thanks Jolan 5@5)
So, in close second place I have to go with FieryJack at Post 13 for his lovely spin on The Muppet Show, a very fitting sentence for surface reading and would have taken it for Kermit, however, I am not a frog (humour intended without offence)
But I am picking the winner for 3 reasons.
Firstly, for a superb surface read with extraction anagram.
Secondly, Since the extractions have taken a hold and produced some great clues and even myself has succumbed to the feeling of "If ya can't beat 'em - join 'em" and I never thought that this person would be lured out of their usual style of conciseness and brevity and produce such a great 'first-time' effort at an extraction anagram clue.
And Thirdly, to actually use the title of the competition in the extraction wordplay was a marvel...

...so, the winner this week goes to AB for his superb clue:

Clueless Spice Girl? Ugh, horribly smug! (8)

Great wordplay AB and here is your prize with some lovely words and much pomposity:

Also, here's a little something for FieryJack, who I feel will see the humour in this:

Thanks all, Les40
