I think the d is right... the clue is statement of belief (5) and I have it down as creed. Any suggestions?

Creed looks right, pie. My only other thought would be dogma, but that isn't as close (and also still doesn't have the last letter I want, which is O!)

I don't think that CREED was a silly answer at all - there is nothing to indicate the "foreign" version of the word.
