A competition to compose the best cryptic clue, judged by your fellow contestants.

You may enter as many clues as you like and everybody is welcome to have a go.

Please feel free to explain your clue if you think it will help.

Everybody who enters may vote for their favourite clue - please include the post number.

The entry with the most votes wins and its composer sets next week's competition.

Please post your clues by 1pm tomorrow, Friday 9th May, when voting opens - deadline 20.00 that evening.

The setter has a deciding vote in the event of a tie and may change the rules if necessary.

It is customary for the setter to award an online prize when declaring the winner.

chrise has asked me for a parse, so here goes.
The first part is the definition, as Monadnock means a hill etc standing alone in its surroundings, uneroded while all else around has been
Mysterious smiler is Mona
Mysterious again is an anagrind, NOD is fodder= DNO
Is less sick + sick without the is
It Is a bit convoluted and not how I originally composed it on my way to and from Cheltenham this afternoon!
