I have a new computer so fully expect to be joining the ranks of the disencrossworded come Monday. It's an iMac so any advance advice would be very welcome. I know there have been posts about this previously but paid little attention as I was not affected.

teenieleek, I have an iMac so I just visited the Genius site. It informs me I need a java plug-in to proceed. I haven't downloaded it but I suspect you may have to so best of luck!

Having read all the adverse comments about Java
I am reluctant to use it.
Is there anyway I can access the Genius (which I so
enjoy) without Java?
I have registered with the Guardian but still can't
access the Genius with confidence.

I usually "manage" to download it so hopefully I will be able to supply a link on here early Monday morning say 8am -ish

Thanks everyone. Did a trial run with last month's genius, Java required. Downloaded it, managed to see the crossword but the print version refused to print. May well need your link tomorrow Sudokulover.

I would be grateful for a link too, Sudokulover. I was unable to submit the last Genius (tried on 4 different PCs) and cannot access Azed today. I am pretty sure it is a JAVA problem and have been asking for help from their technical people. Expect they will be inundated with similar queries so hope they supply a fix soon.

A few months ago there was trouble with Java - the advice was to go into your network? panel (or something similar??) and lower the "security" on java to medium rather than high. I am not at all technical but followed the instructions and since then have been fine .

the problem will be tomorrow, even if my link works, I don't think you will be able to submit online.

Hopefully a "techie" can give more advice!

I tried reducing Java security to medium but all it produces is a different result that still does not produce the crossword. Must be a glitch thrown up by the new website. Wish they could get it sorted once and for all.
