Frankly, I'm having difficulties this week & have only got as far as I have thanks to earlier postings.

However, most of the top is evading me, so perhaps assistance with these two will help :

4A - Fish (or grouse) I had with mother's cheese (10)

13D - Famous rock group's huge influence and inner spark (6, 8)
?????? ???????Y

I'm also puzzled in other places :
56A - Ordered head of branch to assess one's condition (10)
?S?E?T?S?S
40D - Must pay individual sum when reporting very high deficit (5, 4)
O???E ?O?E
20D - Twice annually, daughter's constrained to suffer consequences (3, 6)
P?Y YEARLY

Some, all, or indeed any of the letters supplied may be down to my erroneous thinking........

20d might be pay dearly

56 looks like ASBESTOSIS (a "condition") I can see ASBOS for "orders", so the rest is probably there

Mas + carp + one = mascarpone - cheese?

I have ozone hole for 40d and pay dearly for 20d but am having trouble this week too!

13D - Famous rock group's huge influence and inner spark (6, 8)
?????? ???????Y - GIANTS CAUSEWAY - not able to pars completely but obviously huge = GIANT and I think influence = sway

I'm also puzzled in other places :

O???E ?O?E - OZONE HOLE (OZ sounds like 'owes', individual = one, sum = whole)

P?Y YEARLY - PAY DEARLY - twice yearly is PA and YEARLY enclosing D for daughter

Well!

Heartfelt thanks to so many who replied whilst I was having a little breakfast.

With this assistance I have completed the bottom two-thirds & can now wrestle on with the top with more of a sense of optimism.

It's encouraging to know that others are having difficulties as well this week. One feels less inept.
