Piece in the paper saying men mow lawns not women! They don't know you! What is your lawn like this Spring? Ours is full of moss & weeds since this very wet winter. Last year it was a decent lawn!
However what is new this year are visiting hedgehogs which I never remember having before. You can see their black dropping all over all our lawns & little tufts of grass roots where they have been foraging for worms!!

Hi redcoral
My lawnmower didn't survive servicing this winter (long story), so I deliberately replaced it with a lighter one so that wife and daughter could use it. Still hoping..........

Hi redcoral
Mowing was my late husband's favourite job (he hated weeding !) so now it is all up to me, plus other jobs that men usually do :) The lawns are now looking OK as I scarified them and most of the moss has died. There are those nasty ribwort plantains where the front lawn faces North, but the South-facing one is looking good; daisied are allowed, but not dandelions. My wildflower area which was specially planted has been invaded by "green alkanet". I have left some as the bees love it. We used to have hedgehogs nesting in the compost heap, but I haven't seen any for a few years now. Long-tailed tits have been tapping their beaks on the shed window as they think their reflections are other birds. The squirrel has made little holes all over the place, where he has forgotten where he buried his nuts. lol.

We have 4 lawns ..... 3 are a reasonable size but the front one is much larger as we have a 175 ft frontage. As Johnny was away abroad quite often (RAF) I had to do all the mowing, but now it's beyond me & I found a really helpful fellow who was a lorry driver/ carpenter. He not only helps control our large garden but now does odd jobs in the house too ...... & washes our car. Johnny used to do a lot of that but since his illness in jan 2000 he has very shaky hands & can't manage it .... Although new tablets recently seem to be helping him. There is no doubt we've slowed up a lot recently & old age & wonky joints are not much fun!! Have a very Happy Easter! Lol.

We will soon go off to the Easter Vigil & this year we've been encouraged to take a little decorated basket with bread, eggs, possibly some sausage etc to be blessed. This custom began since a number of Polish, and Romanians etc have joined the parish & this is a custom in their homeland. Do you have this in your area?
