Hi all!
Missing the exact parsing of my two last ones.

20A Cricket character whose heart is in the right place (6) S??R?R. Clearly S(CORE)R (unless it's a cricketer's name). I get the "core" but can't see the S????R. Perhaps I'm not seeing it correctly.

and

22D He acted treacherously in Troy if not in France (5) S?N?N. It must be SINON, a traitor in the siege of Troy. "not" in France = non, but I don't get the SI bit.

I'm sure I'll kick myself soundly when the obvious is pointed out :))

SR means strike rate in cricket terms.

Not sure if this helps...

Strike rate (SR): The average number of balls bowled per wicket taken. (SR = Balls/W)

Maybe S...R is irrelavant. it's just 'core is the core of the word scorer?

Thanks a million. What an expert laden site!

Thank you Roossim and Mamya for SR

Thank you Chiff and Rossim for SI.

Don't have to 'fall on my sword' after all. Never heard of either of these usages. Never saw the SI = if used in a crossie before. As for SR - I'm afraid my cricket knowledge is very limited.

Again, many thanks. Now satisfactorily completed.

Yes Trevor. Perhaps so. In either case, I find the parsing not too good. STRIKE RATE? Apart from being SR, why do we place CORE in SR?

As for the possibility that it's just CORE in the position it takes within SR. Well??? I'd never set that as a clue.

Not really happy with 20A but pretty sure it's SCORER.

Thanks all, again
