Stuck on top left
1a Plug image, keeping fit (6) ---G--
I think definition is plug, with a word for fit inside a word for image. I don't think the fit means in good condition, so PI-G-C. Actually, i don't know at all. Any help welcome x

Yes, spigot - spit is 'the image' with 'go', fit inside.

Mr Spigot (or Spiggot?) was the name of the one-legged man auditioning for the part of Tarzan in the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore sketch!

Thank you. I saw spigot, but could not make it fit the clue.

13 across: With last of business covered, take off for recess (5).
This was the first clue I wrote in, seeing the 's' and the ape = take off, but I'm not happy with the parsing of my answer 'apse' = recess. Why is the 's' in the 'ape' rather than the other way round? A simple point, but I would be pleased with some elucidation. Thanks in advance.

The 's', the last of 'business' is covered/wrapped in/inside 'ape'/take off. Well, it made sense to me when I did it!

My problem is that the clue says 'covered' not is covered by, with which I would be quite happy. Thanks. It's perhaps me or I am missing something.
