I am only just joining this forum as I only found it at the weekend. I have asked for help on another thread, but want to ask about a particular question on here.
No. 73. An actor silent? I object to the king! 6 letters. has been suggested elsewhere as "mummer". I can't see any connection with the latter part of the clue and, as an ex-drama teacher, I know that mummers are far from being silent - usually shouting their lines above the sounds of a noisy pub! Is it just me?

To be mum is to be silent. This was a cryptic clue so the answer is acceptable.
Mummer = definition
The object of I = me
R = king
