17 A. Duke's other name is earl here? (3) ??k
16 A. Designed for press, failure nearly cleared back (6)
??o?o?

NB. There may be a misprint in the definitions in these clues.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for 'euk'.
Your letters for 8 D are right - I think the misprint is in the first word of the clue (an 'a' instead of 'o'). My answer seems correct, but I'm not 100% certain!

I think 16a is iron-on. [No- no and ri(d)] I am stuck on 1a: nice house music from India - compact disc (6). No letters as yet

If I have 1a correct, the last word (with a letter changed) is the definition. To be fair, I'd never have got it from the clue alone. 1d is probably the most straightforward in the Top left - child's word for a relative plus E. That might help with 1a.

I think I've got the grid filled now, but am stuck on the endgame. Only my last 9 extra letters seem to make any sense. And reading any of them backwards doesn't help. Any hints??

Still failing on all fronts, so 1d eluding me. I have last letter as 'e' but not the relative. All I can think of is Nana! Obviously wrong...another hint?

Jogamel, just a different spelling of the word you've got!

Barista, sorry - I can't help as I'm not finished this yet. I've been ignoring the hunt for misprints as it was slowing me down.

The first six misprints seem to give a name of a very obscure (to me) card game. No need to read anything backwards. Google searches have left me mystified Any help on endgame would be much appreciated!!

Jogamel, I was wrong when I replied re your 'nana' - hope you've sorted that bit out. Also, I forgot to thank you for 'iron-on' - thanks.
