Thanks. I thought so, but I don't like it as a clue. Still, setters can't please everyone.

One other point. The answer to 3dn "Middle Eastern leaves, seldom made full of beans? (8)" where it can only be 'Dolmades' had my brow well-furrowed. It's a dish I know as stuffed vine leaves, peppers etc but never beans.

It is an anagram of "seldom" + ME (middle east) full of beans being the anag indicator

sorry I have misled you...it is an anagram of seldom made minus ME

Sometimes you get the answer right even when you err in the solving process.

I think, however, using this forum requires too much faffing around and I'm off but thanks for the help.
