Well done Aristo i was wondering if anyone would pick up on that, P M and Peter Falk were great pals.

The wood site is great. I have had a passion for wood since i was a lad. And Furniture repair and renovation are just one of my many hobbies.(Loved the idea of the periodic table.Wish i'd thought of it)

Cheers !! and Thanks again for your support.

Hi Imagcq.
Looks like we share an interest.
Not long ago I refurbished an old washstand for my friend next door. It was built circa 1918 and had spent many years in a farmers shed. I had to strip it into basic components, turn 2 new legs, re-assemble, then dress the whole thing.
I do create "things from wood" but I love giving a bit of furniture a "second life".
Cheers.
Ps: good to hear you're on the mend

Have you ever read Eric Sloane's A Reverence for Wood? Very moving. Back to black cherry- with the classic boiled linseed oil finish (heated oil rubbed in with the heel of your hand once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year, once a year thereafter) it's so rich-looking it makes mahogany look like plastic.

Aristo I can only imagine how resplendent that must look!

I use boiled linseed all the time, most of my tools both garden and workshop are wooden handled and a regular polish with oil is what has kept them(and a quality of steel thats rare to find in this age) Many of these tools were my fathers and some even grandpa's. Amazing to think that they can still hold a keen edge, for a sharp eye.

The way a wood is finished is the key, Once again I reckon that work surface is something of great beauty to behold.

Thanks for sharing, shine on and Cheers!
