First of all thanks to everybody who took part - please forgive me for choosing such a difficult word to clue with so few anagrams.

Thanks to everybody for voting within the time limit, especially busby who must have got up very early and whose vote was the decider - I was dreading having to choose the winner. Commiserations to bbm2 who gained a total of 6 votes over 3 clues, with 3 votes for his #9, but the worthy winner is paul with a total of 4 votes for his lovely clue:
