Welcome, grandpa

Are you sure about the final D? Might it be W?

btw you don't need to put the whole question in the title - this just needs to be the crossword and number (also, with the Times in particular, whether it is the cryptic or non-cryptic one)

Check before posting if there is already a "thread" on the crossword you are interested in (I don't think there was in this case) and add your question to the pre-existing one - this is much neater!

To be fair to grandpa, the Times 6277 is a Times 2 crossword from before Christmas. There isn't a cryptic version of the crossword, so therefore there is no need to specify cryptic or otherwise in the title.

Stating your case as clearly as possible benefits both solver and poster!

Welcome Grandpa.
As you may have noticed, this forum is not for the faint-hearted! There are some unofficial rules, which are actually common-sense, but woe betide you if you upset the 'rules police'.
Turning to your question, could your 's' be a 't' thus allowing the answer to be 'foretold'?
Good luck!

Think the answer has seven letters only, so Chrise's suggestion looks good.

Welcome Grandpa.

Of course, it helps if you can count!

Sorry.

Actually, kenyatta, the "rules" aren't "unofficial"! (Though they aren't rigorously applied.)

See the "Posting Tips" that appear when you start a "New Thread".

Your d may be wrong, grandpa! In which case, the answer should be "foresaw".
