Really struggling with this one after almost completing the previous one. Help with these two to get me going would be appreciated.

11a Rich dish set before elite (7, 5)
I'm assuming 2nd word is cream

3d Right Ethiopians left broken alliance (12)
I have first letter R but can't fathom the rest!

3d is an anagram of "ethiopians" with R and L (Right and Left)

Unless I'm missing something, I don't think that definition is very good. Surely a "dish" (rich or otherwise) is something that you would eat by itself - "clotted cream" is only used as an accessory?

I thought of 'Whipped' Cream, but maybe that should be private between me and my rich elite pals. ;-)

dish= delicacy. Chambers give clotted cream as a Devonshire delicacy.

andyc - I was brought up in Devon. We only ever ate clotted cream on something - apple pie, for instance (my particular favourite was on ice cream - it freezes to the surface). You simply could not eat a whole "dish" of eat without feeling very ill.
I think Chambers "dish" is referring to another type of delicacy, perhaps?
