Looks like I may have been a bit too self indulgent and obscure with this one...back soon to see if anyone has the answers.

Feel free to submit answers even if you don't have them all...

been out all day so not much time to do these but i have,

This is Spinal Tap, for the final clue (30th anniversary of the movie). - can't parse it.

1.Promising percussionist fried...bootiful!(6,7) Turkey Drummer??? not sure about parsing.

2.Single bird gets lost going round ancient monument(10) Stonehenge.(the tiny onstage prop that was built to the wrong scale)

3.Choking on rising vomit shock...not one's own(6) ??????

4.Cacti danger ending tragically?(7,9,8) Bizarre Gardening Accident.(how they lost one of their drummers).

5.70's style speaker...not quiet...goes up to eleven(4) Maxi.

6.Give a daft Ozzie a gun love, it may frighten girls in tight pants(9) Armadillo (a boast about what they have down their trousers onstage and supposed reason/excuse why very few girls turn up to the gigs).

7.Gee, I dig chub wool awfully, how could I leave this behind?(3,6) Big Bottom?? Gee is last letter of big?

would've liked a bit more time but enjoyed that. i might dig out the film later.
favourite quote offhand is - "they were still booing him while we came on".

Just home from work, and haven't had time to look at it again. I too have turkey drummer, Stonehenge, and maxi- and PERUKE for 3.

It's funny I've never seen this; I'm a Christopher Guest fan. "Best in Show" is hilarious- perhaps especially so if you're acquainted with doggy types.

By the way, great job, trevor (you showoff). You too, of course, ixion.

Well done guys...the first one was actually golden drummer, one of the three "dead drummer" clues, the others being 3 and 4 as mentioned by Trevor...back in a few minutes with the parsing...

of course 'golden drummer', did Bernard Matthews ever sell in America?
i kept trying to parse Merkin instead of Peruke (new word for me). obviously got the wrong end there.
thanks again ixion.
