Great survivor, bobsmum!
I might as well chip in with our little story: mud caused my car to go off the road on a bend, but
also saved my life, landing as I did fast on a very soft muddy field: no tree, no traffic, no injuries, no delayed shock even, but a total write-off! This is the 4th time in my life I just escaped death (the others were much closer & too horrible to relate). So in case I'm missing for some time on various threads,
rest assured, I'm just looking for a new car (and money to pay for it). This year we have had nothing but tragédies all around us (in 3 countries): separation, adultery, arson as revenge, sudden death, stillbirth, etc etc --- you name it, our friends have experienced it. Oh yes, and a false alarm caused by a farmer burning enormous amounts of hay in the middle of the night, flames visible miles away, then grumbling because someone (in fact us) had called the fire brigade from far away just in case (first time round I just rang a friend asking him to look outside, and it turned out s'one had set fire to their large outhouse, 5 yards from where they were sitting with their backs to the conflagration, music on so loud they didn't hear the crackling of the fire which we heard even before we saw it 700 yards away..............I'd better not say "It never rains but it pours" (other friends of ours live directly on the Thames), but i thought 2013 was the unlucky year. If our "luck" continues like this much longer (I haven't even mentioned half) we're thinking of going underground (not without reference books & Internet of course).
Anyone else got a story to tell?
