I finished this crossword this morning but I am uncertain of the answer to one clue!

31a Clue: Cautious, attentive (7) ?A?E?U?

I've put CAREFUL as the answer (adjective - exercising caution or showing care or attention), but according to the 'Quick Solve' section to there are two other words which fit and are of equal validity.

They are (a) WAKEFUL (adjective - carefully observant or attentive; on the lookout for possible danger) and (b) WAREFUL [ yeah, I'd never heard of it either!!!] (Wary; watchful; cautious)

I'm certain that the required answer is CAREFUL but before I ink it in....does anyone disagree?

I would definitely go for CAREFUL, no reason just that it seems the most fitting.

Sh*t, It's happened again...possibly because I used square brackets?
Last try!!

Thanks mamya.
When unsure, it's best to stick with ones (posh!!) original gut feeling....I'm good to go with CAREFUL.
