Hi chrise,

Well Paris had it's ups and downs ------ food, wine, ambiance, weather, and a little shopping, all wonderful as ever. I was, however, sadly disappointed with the exhibition as it was far too crowded, cramped and dark. I suffer with claustrophobia, so, not great for me. I had the same experience in the Sainsbury wing of the National Art Gallery and have never been able to go back. A great shame. But nevertheless a lovely weekend away. On a diet now LOL.

Is the cat on your lap again??

Correct, bobs mum - but he's gone now.

I don't like crowded exhibitions either. I found the Cezanne (RA?; Tate? - can't remember) offputting. The most recent we've been to was Edward Hopper, which wasn't too bad. We really wanted to see the Hockney, but no tickets were available when we were.

You were a bit unlucky in the Sainsbury Wing, I think - it has been fairly empty when we have been there (the art to early for most?)

We went to see the Michelangelo exhibition at the Sainsbury and i just could not cope being underground in small dark spaces with that many people. what i managed to see was amazing though. Just Googled Edward Hopper, he looks interesting. We went to the RA to see Modigliani ------- hum --- i'm on the fence --- not sure about that one. But loved the Damian Hurst woman sculpture outside in the courtyard.

I don't think I've been to an exhibition at the Sainsbury. The standard galleries are anything but claustrophobic - large, airy and well lit (and lots of great early stuff, which we got really interested in when our daughter was studying it).
