27a "Sharing out loan first, part of a part" (11)

I am not sure whether answer should be SUBDIVISION or SUBDIVIDING. Is the definition 'sharing out' (which would indicate SUBDIVIDING), or 'part of a part' (SUBDIVISION).

Clue doesn't seem to hold up in either case to me, or am I missing something?

Interested in the wise views of fellow forum members.....

If we put 'A' first , then Subdivision works...


(A) Sharing out

Loan first - SUB
Part of a part - DIVISION

I have the feeling you are correct but am not comfortable that SUBDIVISION = SHARING OUT. Thanks for your response, Mamya.

I'm nearly with mamya on this
SUB = loan
DIVISION = sharing (out)
SUBDIVISION = part of a part

I see the problem though - "sharing out" would be better as "dividing" - the clue would work better without the "out".

If it is SUBDIVISION then my final clue is:

"Outstanding person receiving heavy blow" (4)
And I have _ N _ R

Or if it was SUBDIVIDING I would have _ G _ R

Any suggestions?
