An easy fill apart from 31d where "forgetting line, influenced by big star" has me perplexed. I have 3 out of 4 letters in place which are like the final word of the possibly undefined clue! Also not quite sure of the word play at 10a but have gone for answer beginning with C

Thanks. I had just got solar but was thinking of shore not shred. The brain gets tunnel vision.

People have spent hours on the thematic definitions so a hint would be valued. Possibilities I am considering are some omissions (like alternate letters), coding, first letters of a song lyric and anagrams, though the importance of clue order seems to dismiss the last.

Good luck to anyone still stuck on this "beast"! I think I'll have to form a "Ten Years After" club to discuss with other slowcoaches like myself: would never have got there without "a little help from my friends". Shall never try another "L.": now I know my limits! AND I don't get the joke in the title yet, either...............................

Most of this was easy, but I don't understand the wordplay of 37A and 31D, and am really confused about 2D.

How I parsed then Demeter was as follows

Shaper

Anagram of has (new the indicator) and per (by)

Boy drops the o in this clue

2d Series

Sees around ri which is an abbreviation for watercolourist

Soar-one of the undefined
Solar without l or line

Solar is definition
