23A: Is it SALAMI? If so, I can parse "Greeting" and "one", but what relevance has "off Scottish island"?
Last one (Phew!), Any ideas much appreciated.

OK, so the answer is Hawaii. Incredibly contorted and obscure.
This was my first request for help on this forum, and Bernie's reply was as cryptic as the clue itself, requiring me to google imagecq and search his answers on The Answer Bank site.
Bernie is obviously too clever by half.

Hi drdoom and welcome, I don't for a minute think Bernie was being offhand, but only those with the puzzle could have easily answered or parsed as you did not give the clue.

Glad you got your answer.

drdoom.
Welcome to the site.
Bernie was not being "too clever", he was merely pointing to the "Posting Tips" which everyone encounters when clicking "New Thread". They ask one to provide certain information. Bernie was just pointing this out with a modicum of polite humour.

Me, too clever by half? No, but I can read.
POSTING TIPS

1. State the name (and number if available) of the puzzle in the thread title. "Stuck", "Help!!!" or "Last One" aren't very useful titles.

2. Give the clue number, the clue and the number of letters and please put this number in parentheses at the end of the clue. If no number of letters is given in the puzzle, then tell us. It also helps to know if the clue is cryptic or general knowledge.

3. Tell us which letters you already have. Try to use spaces around the character you choose for missing letters as it makes it much easier to read. Also try to ensure that the letters given match the stated number of letters in the clue.

Apologies. I did not read the posting tips, which I should have done. No excuses.
Bernie's 'polite humour' did not amuse me, hence my comment. I'm afraid it did not occur to me that respondents would not have seen and done the crossword, so I did give the clue number.
Anyway, enough already. Apologies to Bernie for not understanding his reply and to all for not following the posting tips.
