Last one of what I found to be a quirky puzzle. 9a .'One talked into being manager for a wind-up?'(8).
?E?E?V?R. Presumably 'deceiver', but what's the parsing? Please put me out of my misery!

Also the person appointed when a company is wound up

Thank you jazzgirl, an ever present help in times of trouble. I thought of 'receiver', but as the instrument one listened to rather than spoke into; 'wind-up' was a con or deception of some sort - and then I fell for it myself. Cheers.
