I am down to my last two, the answers to which have some connection to weather (either partly or entirely)

The clues are:

Heard that a muscular highlander came after 8 (6,4)
Out of the blue, oddly daubs it on the back of a suit (7,4)

Any clues or help gratefully received

The second one is - another name for very small crystals of ice.
