Thanks, Rosie for validating STUMP, but I am seeking the rationale for BOW and SHRIKE and how does DOPE give us "Pot or mug"? And how does ONCUS explain "Copper is following about bad Ozzie"? ( 34 Across ).

Dope - dope is pot/marijuana, a dope is a mug.

Shrike is wrong - Bow and Stroke are terms used in rowing (and so fit in with the theme).

Re Oncus... Oncus (and Onkus) is an Australian (Ozzie) word for ''bad'. 'About' can equal 'on', 'copper' is 'cu', 'is' is 's', 'following' means 'copper is' follows 'about' - so ' on cus'/oncus.
