Happy New Year to everyone! As usual, am stuck with a few so any clues would be good thanks.

They are:-

8. Some Heads send away for items worn to replace one who’s late (4,4,5)
9. Charles and Alexander get hold of a long, narrow N African boat (6) ???? canoes ????
11. … but mixed spice with tart can be of benefit to climbers (9) ??? thought this might be an anagram of spice and tart but that doesn’t seem to work ????
13. Family with son get on public transport to obtain boots for tragedian (7)
20. We have headline stories for a rainy day (7)
23. Nice friend gets in into empty kayak with appropriate footwear! (5)
25. … but she’s furious with the Scotsman for getting a long type of boot (7)

8 is an anagram of "some heads send"

i guess this is a quiz where answers are all types of footwear??
1st one is an anagram.

9 is written in the clue i think.

1st 3 letters of 13 are a form of public transport.
20. stories = lies
25 is a word better known as a fabric used to make sacks.

23 is the first and last letters of kayak with a 3 letter French word for friend inside

23. think of a french word for friend.

11. is an anagram of spice/tart.
