Could be coupe which is an ice flavoured dessert and also a glass container for the dessert.
parsing - what it contains Ice - remove the I
of nothing = O - amiss = up

I'll buy it. There are not many possibilities; COUDE, COUPE, and COURE.
His clue is even more devious than his normal verbal contortions :-)
ps. I had COUPE as the statistically more plausible!
