NB. Each clue contains a misprint in the definition.

Could 1 be Batata - another term for a sweet potato -ie Tuber rather than Tiber. The parsing could be Ba (Egyptian term for soul (essence) + ta ta (cheers)...

The second letter in the second word changes - and I think the answer could be defined by that word.
