Almost finished, but uncertain on:
38a Slight cut is old cut (4) SNEE or SNED
Can anyone explain cryptic?
Also, struggling on two of the pairs:
?URL
?OW
S?R?K?
?L?I?
Hints on pairings appreciated

In your list, the first and fourth go together, as do the second and third.

I might be wrong but I thought it was snee

Sneer or slight cut or losing its last letter to make snee.

Snee is an old word for cut

Perhaps someone else can confirm which one is correct. I can't see how sned fits with the rest of the clue. I may be missing something obvious.

Has the clue been wrongly posted?

was wondering where you are getting OR cut from.

My original link shows clearly that sned is an old word for cut (unfortunatly that link is not working correctly)

38 A has to be 'snee', I think. If the answer was 'sned', the 'slight cut' is superfluous. I had 'sneer' as the 'slight', then cut it/removed the 'r'.

Word for a group of soldiers + anagram of hit at the end.

The word means poverty in Scots

I shall simply give you this one & hope nobody's angry: POORTITH (Scottish for poverty; "troop" reversed + anag. "hit")!
