I'll have to ask for more help, I'm afraid. I'm making slow progress, but have nothing in the top right quarter, so may I have a hint please on :
American getting range on committee hearing.

There may be a redundant word in the clue.
Thank you.

5 letters; range is the usual Russian mountain range (and river). Committee is redundant.

May I ask where you found the redundant word for EASED? I've got all the others, but the only remaining (apparently) redundant word I can see is in the 'Eurostar' clue - and I can't say I 'approved' of that as the corresponding definition!

"approved" is the redundant word; EASE is NOT augmented in the final grid. The augmenting letter does go in the bottom row.

Aha! Thanks very much for that - glad I asked. All I have to do now is work out which of the remaining possibilities to augment . . . my elderly Chambers isn't helping much at the moment. A sneaky trick on Kcit's part, not requiring augmentation of one of the more obvious words in the grid!

Oh dear. I've gone wrong then and have already submitted my finished grid. Do the Sunday Telegraph accept a second submission? Not sure I'd be able to find the correct augmented word anyway. I looked in Chambers for all possibilities and could only find the thematic number of them.

Clovergo the answer is no. Only one submission is allowed unfortunately. One of the augmented words is listed under its verb form and maybe that is how you missed it.
