I know he's upside down:

We call them cougars. Usually reclusive beasts. Never saw one in the bush up north, though they probably saw me. There is the odd sighting & attack around here.

One was found in the garage of our most famous hotel, The Empress:

How it got that far south, into a totally urban area, is unknown.

No worries; do the cat (or bear) thing – look big. Stand up, raise your arms, make loud growling sounds.

Awe come on Syz!
You're comparing me to an Opossum?
That's not even Aussie!
How about Pteropus scapulatus.
At least they roost in my workshop and "hang upside down".
Then destroy my Apricot tree.

Now that's better :-)

I love possums; they always seem to grin when I trip over them at night. Our only marsupial!

Why do cougars have it in for you Vancouverites? Do you dress provocatively- in T-shirts with offensive messages, say? There must be a reason.

Oh, and thanks for the advice, Syzzie. The next time I encounter a mountain lion I'll remember to growl.

Sorry, Busby. It was late. Here's the proper one.

Aristo, it's actually Victoria & the Island where they are seen the most:

The deer have moved into town.
