5 D. Squeal from kid that's slapped (9)
?u?w?t???

All I've been able to come up with is 'outwitted', but apart from having 'twit' for 'kid', I can't see how it works. Thanks for any help, advice.

Are they all one word? Ou- squeal + Twit - kid + hit = slapped gives Out with it, but can't see definition.....

It's definitely given as (9) - but I like 'out with it' as the second 'i' would begin another answer. (Current advanced form of Latin's accepted as such (7) I?a?i?n, which could be Italian?)

Good evening,
May I intervene to suggest a different parsing?
If you "outwit" someone, you kid them, so it's "Outwit" + "hit".
I still agree with the fact that "Out with it" is (3,4,2), not (9)!

Could be. Leaves "squeal" rather redundant, perhaps?

Not really, if the police want someone to "squeal" on somebody else, they might say "Out with it!".
