HI there,

Any ideas re the following:-
11a (5) 'Who's shortening the distance without getting there first?' I've got l-s-r and can only think of loser or laser, but don't really see it.

19d (7) 'Speeds touching seventy initially, engaging van's third gear.' I've got h-r-e-s and am thinking 'hurries' but again, can't really see how it fits.
