Put away - eat ok but what has that to do with a vault?

Thanks jazzgirl - so easy when it is explained any thoughts on 24D "Having to secure base, kate rushes baby" (5) M?G?A - looked up who moses mother was (thought the link might be babies found in bullrushes but that got me nowhere so now blank and my electronic friend only comes up with MAGMA or MAGDA

Thinks the answer to 24D is MOSES (kate MOSS + base of secure + E)

in which case your thinking was correct, but the G and A are wrong...

Also had a look at your 21D. Are you sure all your letters are correct there?

You are correct, ringleader not helpful! and I guess ousting should be ousters - not a word I know.

If you can finish off 21D and then , if it is not ESPY 30 A I can consign this to the bin, I have had far too much help to enter it in the draw with a clear conscience even if I could find the numbers!
