So one of the authors is a twentieth-century Anglo-American poet who was awarded the Order of Merit and was a director of a major publishing house. Presumably the other author is the one he "translated" it from.

Managed to finish it. Once the methods of entry are clear, the whole thing is much more straightforward. Still slightly unsure of the parsing of a couple of the answers, though (16 across, anyone)
