I've finally finished this after spending far too long over a few clues, but once the penny drops and you see how the clue was parsed, some are really clever.

I also enjoyed today's crossword There's only one clue which I cannot parse, but it seems to fit.....1 down Composer paid from inside city (9) ? R ? K ? F ? E ? I've got Prokofiev but although Kiev is a city containing of, or from I dont understand the pro meaning paid?

The 'paid' bit is PRO,as in behalf of + Of (for from)inside Kiev.

from is OF

In take it then that pro means professional, as in someone who gets paid, Not the best clue I've ever seen.

I,m also enjoying this puzzle but I am really stuck on 3d. Tricky actress floundering without nazi mate (6.9) Csn you tell me if I am on the right track with these letters

"Tricky" refers to "New tricks" (recently)
