congrats aristo

Hi ginge, thanks for asking about my clue - I didn't think it would go down well but here goes....

It's an attempt at an &lit clue where the whole clue acts as the def. 'Piss about after the' gives Thespis who is known as the father of the tragedian art form - hence 'thespian'.

Thanks again for asking, - sorry it didn't work.

Hi rambler thanks for that. I got Thespis but was unaware of him being known as the "father" expression, so now I know; it works for me. Coincidentally, my clue transforming thespian into tragedian was also an attempt at an &lit. In my case I'll give it up as a bad job.

The site finally let me back on! Oh my! Thanks so much, jws. Nice clip- but do you guys really call that a football? A bit of throwback comedic style, like Henny Youngman with all the one-liners ("Take my wife. Please." I once heard a Native American comic recover from a lull with "Take my land.").

I must say I feel a little guilty; I used to make fun of tragedy in my own plays. :) Very good clues all around. Thanks to all, and see you next week.

ginge, yours was a better &lit clue 'cos it parsed properly.
