I have found the answer to be

but am puzzled as to the final 'y'. Surely it is not just the first letter of 'you'. Any help appreciated.

That's what I thought, but it does seem a tad weak, with first governing leave and year, ignoring the 'and', also 'firsts' might be more appropriate. I'll accept it!
