Hi ixion,
I hope you didn't mind me parsing (although not as specific as your own) your clue but BBM2's post did ask for anyone to enlighten him. Had I known you were shortly about to post I would obviously have left it to yourself.

chrise: It isn't as spectacular as usual; it's also late. It can really take your breath away, and it always seems like a miracle even though I've lived with it all my life. The roads can be jammed at the height of the season- lots of tourists from abroad. We call them leaf peepers. I don't use the term disparagingly, being a tree-worshipper myself.

Hi aristo
It seems wonderful that you have areas with natural trees that colour up so well. We have them too, but they are called arboretums (i.e. they have been planted), and so are much less extensive. Best wishes for the next week or two's colour (and beyond that, of course).

Wow - I'm genuinely shocked as there were so many superb clues this week! Thank you indeed, Aristo, for a word that appeared so awkward to clue accurately but yielded such gems!

Very inspirational pair of prizes - "Fall" in London, UK is being heavily obscured by a dull sheet of seemingly interminable rain at present!

Traditionally "Fall" at this time of year perhaps referred to politicians trousers in squirmingly embarrassing scandals- these days merely the level of public opinion of said other-worldly misfits.

A warm welcome to our new contributors and please have a go with Peer Review tomorrow.

RE; glad to see the contact didn't deter you!

Thank you everyone for the kind words - will be hard to match the setting standard but see you all next week! P
