56 Going from A to D musically perhaps (9)

I'm also stuck on these two. Several people have suggested WINDSCALE for 56 but I can't see how they get to that conclusion.

Like you elephant I can't see where Windscale fits the clue but cannot find another answer.

Still no joy with numbers 2 & 56, I also find I need

I guess Windscale is A-D is a musical scale, and the wind represents the wind section of the orchestra? A bit iffy, indicated by perhaps?

rinkleez like you I had Windscale but it doesn't appear in my book of maps & if googled it says it is Sellafield, so it really is a mystery as is number 2. for 59 I have Glendevon ?

Forgot to say Glendevon is in Perthshire.
