Hydra,
i cannot reply anymore on behalf of someone else ------------ i just felt that FJ's response was a little OTT for peer review, --- we all at times have had to undergo criticism and have had to break down our clues, even retrospectively and have them under the microscope at times. None of us are professionals and this is still after all a game ----- a nice game, that should be enjoyed and from which we learn.

I have to agree with harbinger that fieryjack has every right to feel "miffed". While it was clearly not GK's intention to "belittle" fiery's clue I'm sure he wishes he'd phrased his post better. Whilst I have no wish to see parsing accompany every clue, perhaps before casting their vote, anyone unclear of the merits of a clue should swallow their pride and have the good grace to ask to have it explained. The fact that ixion felt obliged to describe the clue in question as "convoluted" raises serious questions in my humble opinion!

Oh dear! I've only just discovered all this to and fro' about my voting behaviour. I see nothing to apologize for, quite honestly, and would appreciate it if sarcasm could be kept off this thread. I acted sincerely, and surely it's more honest to ask for an explanation, and even to express your possibly slightly altered opinion when you receive it. No aspersions were intended; if it was taken that way, I'm very sorry, of course, but still don't feel "guilty"!
