EVER(Y) = almost the best possible (see Chambers)
TEAM minus AE (aged) reversed = TM
Omit M and there you go!
I didn't particularly enjoy this crossword. I've only been doing these crosswords a short while but I am getting a bit tired of another crossword with......the wordplay indicates an extra letter not entered in the grid..... Surely someone can invent something a bit more original. Thanks to all for the hints along the way - I would never have got to the end of this one without the help.

I've got a full grid, the quotation and I understand how the title works, but I can only find one (peckish) member of one family. Is it a case of three humans and three non-humans with the same "name"? Any hints welcomed.

Ah, just found a couple of the non-humans. Are the "humans" all "non-real"?

unclued, thanks for explanation of 31d. I know what you mean by extra letters etc, but Im just pleased to complete as many times I hardly get started.

Hi Leon, thanks for that. I actually got the two other humans this morning after consulting IMDB : I'm not very familiar with the film and the names were new to me. Still looking for the third non-human along the line in the SE quadrant. No doubt it will pop up eventually.
