Could someone please tell me where this quiz is. That might help matters. One person in the thread states that the answer is formed by concatenating the answers to clues nine and ten. Another contributor, who says he/she does not have the quiz, claims to have solved it - seems strange. Also the Crossword Help Forum is full of those trying solve prize problems etc.. . How is anyone to know what conditions are attached to a problem such as this? Why does anyone ask for help here if they are aware that the author of the quiz forbids it! I am sure that it will all prove a storm in a teacup!

It's been opened so many times on this forum that I'm sure they've all escaped!

Thanks very much. Jonty. I will send for the quiz to see what all the fuss is about, but will I not enter, even if I can do it! Cheers.

Why not enter and put a note in to say any prize to be donated to school funds.

I can't help you there, Paul. However, there are two forms of transport, which when separated by an a, give another one. I did not need to see the clue, I just worked it out from the information given.
Will look pretty stupid if I'm wrong though!

I have sent for the quiz, but if that is all that is wanted, it is easy, one possible solution would be car-a- van and there may be others. I still strongly object to what seems to be the non-word tenanine, which is ridiculous, unless the quiz is in code. This thread, like many others in the past, show how important it is to give full information about the provenance of the clue.

If this is probably the deciding question, i.e. one of the hardest and few of the quizzers likely to get it then it don't say much about the quiz does it. Perhaps it's a quiz for the under fives.
