I found 6 unchecked A's in the grid:
2 in 11a
1 in 26a
1 in 44a
1 in 31d
1 in 35d
Where's your other one?
I found 6 E's in the grid:
1 in 11a
2 in 44a
2 in 16d
1 from the "crosser" of 31d & 44a
... unless I'm wrong somewhere, but mine did "seem" to check out.

There's an unchecked A in 16dn as well.

I have for 16d "Le serpent qui" ????

Oops, of course - snakes are male. Not that I'm suggesting that the reverse is also true.

Sudokulover, I had the same as you for the extra letters - but only if your references to 44 A refer to 41 A?

malone - yes sorry i meant 41a.

Can someone please explain 41a to me ....... I have the "serpent" ...... letters - 3,2,5, but it does not fit with the answers the other clues ! ;o(

Have you treated//changed the 3,2,5 as you did the others? I think there's only one solution from the letters involved.
