I am pleased to say I've never yet used Facebook (and hopefylly will never have or feel the need to) so I meant nothing more than mischievous fun, possibly misplaced.

Neither have I, Ginge, but the pressure is on. Most of the family (the younger ones) are there 24/7. E-mail is their snail-mail, so it's the easiest way to know what's going on. I'm slipping to Luddite status.
Ironic, eh? This coming from a computer guy.

Problem is, people put all manner of info out there without a thought of the possible consequences, because they are really aren't computer-savvy; they just click those buttons.

PS: I got the joke.
Poor Sam, he must feel bad but the spelling mistake didn't affect the wordplay.

I am very sorry my late night (OK just before I went to bed) comment threw the cat amongst the pigeons. All I meant to say was that the minor spelling error stopped a very good clue from being an absolute corker. I think it was a worthy winner.
Now off ferning!

Hi syzygy, I totally agree the mechanics of the clue are unaffected by the spelling error.
Humour and tolerance sadly seem lacking in "Peer Review" recently and without wishing to fall in line with any pedants I think it is extremely discourteous to pre-empt our host, red elf, especially in light of his comments posted after samg scratched his clue!

Good morning guys – here’s how I’m going to proceed. With all votes in (bar 1), it would appear that samgamgee cannot be caught and should be the clear winner with 6 votes as per the rules. However, samgamgee has withdrawn his clue (I think he’s a he) and he has every right to do so. This was done before the winner was announced. I therefore propose 2 possible courses of action:

1. If samgamgee rethinks his decision before midday, I will announce him as winner and award the prize.
2.If he remains resolute then I can only ask that the 6 who voted for him, re-cast their votes for a different clue.

I’m sorry if this seems convoluted, but if anyone can think of an easier solution then I’m all for it :)

In my humble opinion the incorrect spelling of ‘Pinocchio’ does not alter the mechanics of the clue (cheers ginge) and should be unchallenged. So please samgamgee – have a rethink and make my life a lot easier :)

Gee Samgamgee
You're a clear winner.
Don't beat yourself up, let others do that for you :-)
ps: hope I've apostrophised correctly :-)

Hi red elf, if samg doesn't get in touch accepting his victory by your midday deadline or declines beforehand why not use your ability to change the rules at your discretion and award the victory to, for example the clear 2nd best (although I'm sure BBM2 wouldn't want to win this way) this would bring the matter to a close a lot quicker?
