No andy - I meant that there is a word in the clue that isn't really needed, I think.

Hope you get your golf in.

Golf called off due to visibility. Just bumping this back to the top......can't get a satisfactory parse on #1!!!

Sorry about your golf, andy - I am hoping to play tomorrow and Thursday.

I can't come up with a likely answer for #1 (or, to put it another way, I'm sure my answer is wrong).
I suspect my guess for #3 might be right, but I am grasping at straws for the definition!

Just checking in now (almost closing time!). No guessing with 3, chrise; the definition's right there. Won't be here at 5:00, will try to be back soon after.

Sorry, I mis-spoke (wrote?). My definition is fine, it's the parsing I am struggling for! (Probably wrong anyway - I won't submit it.)

Hi again Chris, whenever we have our golf week at Rowany we seem to get unusual weather. I am due to play every day this week. I think we should both be alright for tomorrow.

I too have an answer for 1) which does not meet the definition, that is if I have the definition.....I think I'm pretty sound on the others.....but Jolan has the ability to make me look inept quite regularly, so I will not count my chickens. I'm looking forward to 17:00.

Think I've got all five, Jolan: one was completely new to me!

Very late checking in today and little time to think, but I did see #5 straight off. Hope you have a lovely relaxing break John. Best wishes. Jg x

I will avoid ridicule (possibly!) by withholding my answers to #1 and #3.
2 GYRATE (hidden word)
4 ROYAL FLUSH (tongue in cheek definition)
5 INVOICE (subtractive anagram, or, as it should be known, a "jolan"!)

Thanks again, jolan. Holidays, I hope?
