Thanks all for those - always satisfying to know why and answer is what it is.

Anybody have any thoughts on the two Hemingway related clues?

4. so long = a farewell; wings = arms;
so long + wings = A Farewell (to) Arms

Would that be it?

3. erne = seabird??? That's only paltry offering I can make.
I'm dying to see one of the real experts here provide an explanation.

Thanks for your thoughts Jolan - I was thinking along the same lines for 'A Farewell To Arms' but just can't parse it completely and the other one has me completely stumped!

3. Writer of Campbell's Seabird Cookbook. Answer: Ernest Hemingway.

Mike Campbell is a character in The Sun Also rises, so "Writer of Campbell" could be the definition.
Then it could be "Ernes The Ming Way"?

Campbell is a character by the writer Ernest Hemingway. Ernes are seabirds. Ming is a way to cook,
"Ernes the Ming way" would be the title of a seabird cookbook and spells the name of the writer of Campbell, so "Writer of Campbell is Seabird Cookbook" is Ernest Hemingway.
