Thank you for your good wishes! I happen to know 3 other people who've all experienced the same thing recently. They're all (even) older & more fragile (I'm not fit but I'm "robust")so once again I'm thanking my Lucky stars: it's all so relative, isn't it??!!

Soounds painful GK, hope you're on the mend.

OK, I have been alerted to something that is very rare in crossword land which is having two possible answers to a cryptic clue.
GK, All your answers within the Strumpets Boudoir are correct and the Gatekeepers are all correct apart from one.
BUT!!!!!
As I said above, you have sent an answer that differs from mine but I feel it is perfectly fair as someone else has given the same answer for this clue.
So, I feel that although I am in a predicament and some may question my decision, that as a crossworder myself, I would be agrieved to be discounted from winning because of the answer that has been given by GK.
So I deem Greedy Kite the winner and will take up the debate of whether I made the correct decision or not at a later time when all persons involved are in a position to make judgement (when the solutions and wordplay are published)

Well done Greedy Kite, I will inbox your email with your other questions.

I feel I'm gonna get hung by the ladies tomorrow!

Well, that calls for a second beer, I suppose! Sorry to have pipped the ladies at the post (is that the right expression?) but "it's only a game " etc...I Wonder where we differ, les: very generous of you to count mine as valid!
And to all still struggling: never give up! I had no idea I'd finish within 14 hrs --- many looked quite impossible for long gruelling hours! I won't staret with my personal favourites (yet). The best of it all was, at the beginning I'd forgotten 2 of my own!
In any case, "Santé!" as they say here: it's been a long, long day. And I have no idea whatever what "virtual (virtuous?) task I can assign some lady!
Something to sleep on......
Thanx again ,Les, for a brilliant super-invention: it worked, & "participation is all" .......!

Ok Greedy Kite,
I have sent a full explanation of my quandary and hope you will give some feedback on here as to my decision (without giving the answer)

DISCREPANCY ALERT

For anybody who is wondering what we are on about, please refer to the Gatekeeper clues and note that the clue for Gatekeeper 'd' has in fact got two perfectly legitimate cryptically derived answers that I have decided to accept as correct in both cases. Please could we wait until the solution and wordplay files have been published to comment or argue about it thanks.

Just in case anyone is worried about misspells in relation to the discrepancy clue, don't worry because the 1st 2nd & 3rd letters in both words are the same and do not upset the letters in the clues that cross through it within the grid. So whichever answer you have, it will fit without upsetting the rest of the clue answers.

I'm gone far too tired for this,

I meant the 1st, 3rd and 5th letters are the same in both words, so they don't upset anything in the grids

We'll get there in the end , I promise?

Congrats, GK.
I predicted you would save our honour (post 22).
How appropriate, considering your location.

Ladies of the seraglio, hang on to your bloomers.

Hi Les, what an effort, I'm lost for words (only need about ninety more).
Well done greedy Kite, glad it wasn't up to me to save the day.
Shall miss you Pastille, enjoy your busyness (or should that be business?) no more "kissypoos" to be seen I guess. Pat Steele.......sounds like a "super hero's name, and very fitting it is.

Congratulations, GK - sorry to hear about your fall, but I'm glad that you seem to be on the mend.

Sorry too that you won't be around as much, pastille, but hope to hear from you from time to time.

Thanks les for a superb effort - still only about 3/4 done in total, though!
